Business Coaching

Welcome to my site. Most people I meet have little understanding or knowledge of what a Business Coach actually is or does, so I have tried to use my site to explain both my role and my philosophy. Coaching within a business context is a relatively new concept in the UK and as is the case with most newly formed industries you will currently find a wide variety of coaches and approaches in the market at present. If you are interested in working with a coach you need to find one whose personality and approach best suits your own situation. Why you may need a Coach

Most owners or entrepreneurs start out with a very clear vision for their business, they know exactly what they want to achieve and how they are going to achieve. However the reality is that only a small percentage will actually arrive at their chosen destination and will achieve the success & rewards they had hoped for. The reason being is that running a business is not easy and does not suit everyone who embarks on the mission. There are lots of obstacles to overcome and lots of skills to learn along the way, so the failure rate is high.

At anyone time the majority of business owners feel they are not getting the return they deserve on the money and time they have invested in the business. If you are in the minority who are on course to achieve your goals and you are happy the way your business is running, then you may not need the services of a coach at present, if however you are in the majority who are not satisfied with the speed they are growing then coaching maybe worth considering.

The Role of a Business Coach

A coach works primarily alongside the owner and management team to assist the business in achieving it’s potential. The role falls into four broad headings:

  1. A listener - being the owner of the business can be a lonely role, a coach provides an external pair of ears to share your frustration, thoughts and ideas with.
  2. A strategist - a business is only as good as the strategy they are following, a coach will assist you in devising one that maximises your resources and increases your profitability.
  3. A teacher -an experienced coach will be able to teach you and your team different skills & approaches that will improve your effeciency and your competitiveness as a business.
  4. A motivator – we all need someone in our corner at times to focus and motivate us. A good coach will provide you with the momentum and drive you need to achieve your goals.

How much time is spent in each capacity will depend on the challenges you are facing at present, my role is always tailored to specific needs of the orgnisation or individual I am working with.
